Welcome to before breakfast a production of iHeartRadio.

Good morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the before breakfast podcast. Today's tip is to decide Saturday by Wednesday by giving a little thought your weekend a few days early. You vastly increase the chances of having well fun. I know many people feel so busy during the week that it's hard to think about the weekend, then you get to the weekend with a vague. Hope of relaxing, but when you don't think about what you'd like to do with your time time tends to get filled by other things chores errands random email checks.

Or you don't take advantage of options that might be available like trading off kid free time with your partner and that requires making a plan when it doesn't get discussed beforehand either no one gets to do what they want or people make assumptions and one party gets free time and the other gets resentful.

All of this can be avoided with one simple habit. Think about Saturday on Wednesday set an alarm a recurring calendar reminder for some point on Wednesday. You only need a few minutes and this need not be an ordeal. Think about what you'd like to do on the upcoming Saturday. Look at your calendar and see if there's anything already happening on Saturday that you need to be aware of then figure out any Logistics coordinating with other family members hiring a babysitter or swapping care with another family member calling any friends you hope to see making reservations for that canoe rental or whatever it is.

Now if you want you can do the advanced version and think about Sunday too, but I find that if you know, you're doing something fun on Saturday, then it can be okay to let Sunday be a bit more free form. Even if you do nothing Beyond scroll around online at least Saturday gives you some answer to the question of what did you do this weekend? You can also do the really Advanced version and do all your planning on Friday looking all the way to the next weekend. This is what I aim to do, but well, it doesn't always happen plus stuff comes up during the week Wednesday 10th to be the sweet spot where you're close enough to the weekend to get a good sense of the landscape, but you're far enough back that you can probably get reservations or make plans with friends without them being booked up or you can hire a babysitter if you need one.

But waiting until Saturday to think about Saturday will artificially limit your options rather than executing on a plan that you've already made. You'll have to come up with the plan and often that involves a bit more effort than many of us can muster on a weekend morning set a time on Wednesday to think through Saturday, and you won't have this problem.

In the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening. And here's to making the most of our time.
