With a pandemic and a revolution happening at the same time we get to choose what kind of society we want to rebuild and who we want to be together. I'm Berrington day Thurston author active and comedian and I've got a new podcast how does citizen with very soon that are democratic experiment is at a Tipping Point. But which way we tip is up to us. IHeartRadio is number one for podcast, but don't take your word for it find houses in with ferritin date on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your pocket.

Welcome to before breakfast a production of iHeartRadio.

Good morning. This is Laura.

00:00:42 before breakfast podcast today's tip is to think of your to-do list as a ferris wheel. Yes, you have a lot of stuff going on in life. But only a few things can be at the top at any given point by addressing those and then spinning the wheel you will eventually get to everything.

I'm taking this tip for my friend and vocal who is the creator of the modern mrs. Darcy website and the host of the podcast. What should I read next when I interviewed her for my book the new corner office. She mentioned that she thought of her work life as everyone's favorite Fairground staple the ferris wheel she'd have a couple of long-term projects going but you'd only focus on a limited number at a time. Those are the cars at the top of the ferris wheel if she address each and turn and then spun the wheel. She would eventually spend time on everything.

I love this image for a lot of reasons. I often advise people to limit their daily. To-do list. No one is going to get through a 50 item to do list in a day that's just ridiculous aiming for 325 consequential activities around your various appointments is about all you can expect there is no virtue and putting something on a to-do list and then not doing it.

But of course whenever I mention the virtue of brevity when it comes to to-do list, someone will point out that hello. I have more than three to five things going on in my life at any given point. How can I expect a to-do list to be so limited?

The ferris wheel in elegy answers this question. Of course, you have more than three to five things going on everyone does but you can't put 15 cars on top of a ferris wheel at the same time that really wouldn't be much of a ride instead you focus on a few each day and then spin the wheel and focus on different ones tomorrow, you accomplish those then spin again and focus on different ones the next day to perhaps them projects come up again frequently once a week or so, you can devote a day to them. For instance. I often dedicate a day to writing podcast episodes for a whole week or more.

Then I spin the wheel again, you can get to lots of things by focusing on a few things and turn the ferris wheel and Allergy can help you make your peace with this idea. I know it's been helpful for me. So maybe it will be for you to

in the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening. And here's to making the most of our time.
