Welcome to before breakfast a production of iHeartRadio.

Good morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the before breakfast podcast. Today's tip is a very your route by changing things up every now and then you open yourself up to new pleasures and insights many of us have regular routes and establish routines. These can be great for simplifying daily life. Maybe you grocery shop every Friday and follow the same path through the store first produce than meat then packaged Goods then very easy and predictable.

Plenty of people have a long-running root and a short running route and follow one or the other everyday, you know exactly how much time you need to get a run in so you don't have to figure out what the traffic patterns are at every intersection. They're so familiar.

You may be in charge of getting your kids ready in the morning your partner may handle bedtime morning and bedtime run like clockwork and your partner reliably gets to have a leisurely cup of coffee in the morning and you can count on curling up with a good book at night.

I love routines like these four things that happened regularly. There's no reason to figure them out a new every time find something that works and stick with it. But every once in a while, they can be nice to shake things up if you like to walk or run outside. It's amazing. What shifting to buy just a block will do you find unexpected flower line path and you'll see different dog walkers, but different dogs, perhaps you'll notice a house for sale that can be perfect for a friend who wants to move into your neighborhood. These are unexpected the lights that you never would have seen on your usual path.

Even if you love your Friday night date night try a date day and go out for brunch sometime. There's something electrifying about being out on a date at a time. You're usually wrangling kids in the car for softball games.

Try a new grocery store Just for kicks Go a different direction who knows what treats you'll find go ahead and get the chocolate covered ginger the starfruit just because and every now and then swap who's in charge of which kids that each time of the day and perhaps you'll see a new side of your Offspring go to a different Bakery to read the paper some Sunday morning and you may discover a new favorite pastry or maybe meet a new friend.

Repeat experiences with our favorite things are great. But variety can be intrinsically enjoyable to and doing things a little differently every once in awhile creates the chance for you to discover new favorite thing.

In the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening. And here's to making the most of our time.
