Good morning. This is Laura.

Welcome.to.the before breakfast podcast today's tip is to pick some low-hanging fruit in your life treat yourself to one easy win and you will feel like you can tackle anything.

00:00:57
In an earlier episode this week. I talked about the decluttering wisdom of tackling one spot getting rid of all the junk is impossible, but you can probably clean out one drawer when we do this. We feel excited rather than defeated.

00:01:13
Seeking out an easy win works on the same principle making progress on big goals can be hard but not all the steps are equally hard. There's no reason not to pick the low-hanging fruit if you can.

00:01:29
I was thinking of this recently when my laptop informed me that I would need to free up some storage space and this seems like it would be a big task which would involve going through old files and photos and making hard choices about what to keep then I looked and realize that a single hour long video file that I didn't need was consuming more space than pretty much all of my documents combined. The video file was gone in a second. Now. I'm not saying that I don't need to do some file purging. I probably do but picking that low-hanging fruit bought me time.

You can probably think of all sorts of situations where you can pick some low-hanging fruit getting out of debt can be a long and difficult process for sure. But maybe you can buy yourself some Breathing Room by transferring a high-interest debt to a credit card with a very low introductory rate. If nobody's going much of anywhere selling an unused vehicle is fairly low-hanging fruit on the wealth-building side setting up enough of an automatic transfer to your 401k to get a company match is incredibly low-hanging fruit free money. It's hard to get lower hanging than that.

00:02:48
De-cluttering can be hard but dumping broken stuff and trash isn't sweep through a room with a garbage bag and it will automatically look better without any tough decisions. If you've made a pile of donations taking 2 minutes to set up a pickup with an organization like green drop can make it very easy to get rid of it. It will all be gone low-hanging fruit.

00:03:14
If you are trying to eat healthier, you can literally grab low-hanging fruit by putting a fruit bowl on your counter and by not buying your particular brand of tempting junk snacks at the supermarket.

00:03:29
Overhauling your health as a long-term project, but improving the quality of your snacks is pretty easy and terms of prenup time here is an idea for low-hanging fruit. Go hide your phone after 8 p.m. And unplug the TV you will suddenly feel like the evening is endless in life. We often dream up big goals and aspirations and that's great. But something like becoming financially independent is going to take a long time keep aiming there for sure. But in the meantime canceling a $10 a month subscription that you don't use will free up $120 a year in low-hanging fruit.

00:04:15
It's not a fortune, but it's something and something tends to be smart.

00:04:22
In the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening. And here's to making the most of our time.

00:04:33
